Samahdi Questionnaire

Here is a test to find whether your mission on earth is finished. If you’re alive, it isn’t.

— Richard Bach

Explore life and its possibilities. Review the experiences you have had and how they have formed you. Think about the relationships you have and what you and each person in your life can teach each other. Consider what adventures, experiences and learning opportunities await you in your future.

If you imagine yourself at the end of your life, you might ask yourself these four questions:

· Have I gotten from life what I wanted to get?

· Have I given to others what I wanted to give?

· Have I learned through my life what I wanted to learn?

· Have I become the kind of person I wanted to be?

Let these questions guide you now. Take an active part in directing your life, in making your relationships what you want them to be, in pursuing the experiences that will help you become the kind of person you want to be.

Samadhi Center:

Samadhi means self-realization. Samadhi Center is a place to explore, to learn, to understand, to heal, and to grow. The rewards are in the process.

Strengthening Nursing Education Opportunities on the Peninsula

Heritage Place Nursing and Out-Patient facility is proud to be one of the sponsors of the Central Peninsula’s "Nursing Education Consortium." This group of area healthcare providers and community organizations including the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Bridges and the Soroptimists have been active in supporting a variety of projects to encourage and foster Nursing Education.

Importantly, the group organized a gala fund raising event last November 15th at the Kenai Senior Center. Under the leadership of Lois Pillifant, board member at Heritage Place, there was a tremendous outpouring of community support. Area businesses and individuals generously donated items for the auction.

The grand prize from ticket sales was a trip for two to Hawaii contributed by Hawaiian Vacations.

More than 160 persons participated in the festivities.

Valentine’s Day has been selected for the auction this coming year. The Kenai Senior Center has been reserved for Saturday, February 14, 2004. Already committee work has begun. The group is actively looking for additional sponsors. Lois Pillifant has graciously agreed to again chair the effort. Anyone wishing to help with the auction should contact Lois at 260-3111 or Ruby at Heritage Place (262-2545).

Here’s an update on how it’s going. The consortium has given $8,000 in scholarships, loans and tuition assistance for seminars. Our area has 8 student nurses in their first year training through the joint efforts of Weber State University, Kenai Peninsula College, Central Peninsula General Hospital and Heritage Place.

In May of this year, 13 Weber State students graduated with associate degrees in nursing. Many are already working as RN’s in our community. In January of 2005 the University of Alaska will begin their associate degree program in nursing. So good things are happening, and the community can be proud of its collective efforts.

In closing, Heritage Place wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
