Out-Patient Imaging-New Healthcare Options in the Community

Out patient imaging centers have addressed the concern for better service by treating each patient as an individual with specific needs. Patients first notice this difference when they enter the doors of the facility and encounter warm colors, an inviting atmosphere, soft music and a comfortable lobby and waiting rooms.

Board certified radiologist and technologists are on site to provide patients with a safe and comfortable experience. Patients are able to ask questions and have them answered during their appointment. Technologists will make sure that each patient is comfortable when performing the diagnostic scan and will provide images immediately after their scan that can be given to the patient’s physician.

Out patient imaging centers have met the demand for better technology in many ways. The equipment that is purchased in many outpatient imaging facilities is the newest, most technologically advance equipment available. This allows the imaging facilities the ability to provide cutting edge diagnostics and superior patient comfort.

This equipment provides high quality diagnostic images for radiologists and referring physicians to make the best healthcare decisions for their patients. Images can be printed in various ways. Traditionally, images were printed on film and viewed in a view box; this can still be done and is preferred by some physicians. Images can be burned on a CD and viewed on a desktop or laptop computer. As technology advances and physicians become accustomed to viewing images on their computer screen this option will become more of the standard. Online images are also available, this allows physicians to securely view patients images from their office or home. This option follows all of the current HIPPA guidelines and is a convenient option for many physicians.

Finally, the benefit many patients are most interested in, lower cost. With out-patient facilities comes competition which often results in competitive pricing. As out patient imaging centers provide lower priced options to communities, patients are able to shop around for the best value. This provides a checks and balance system for healthcare monopolies and overpriced services.

Alaska Open Imaging Center is proud to be an out patient imaging center that provides patients with the best diagnostic imaging services in the state. With multiple locations throughout Alaska, AOIC is dedicated to making a positive impact on the wellness of the communities that we serve.
